Urban Baristas

Urban Baristas currently has 15 stores in the UK and is currently looking for new franchisees to expand our brand. The company was founded in June 2016 by Huw Wardrope and Jono Bowman, two Aussie guys that grew tired of the finance industry and of the bad chain coffees they were drinking and decided to invest their time in something they loved but struggled to find in London: great Aussie-style specialty coffee. Urban Baristas’ journey went from Bondi to Bounds Green with their first site and the aim of serving specialty coffee to the London commuter. Fast forward to 2023, and Urban Baristas embarked on expansion via franchising with the first three locations opening in London’s Tooting Bec, New Cross Gate, and Maidenhead, with the brand now operating across 15 locations in the capital. They say: “Customers love our coffee and brunch culture, and we are passionate about spreading this lifestyle to our guests in our own laid-back way. Urban Baristas’ sustainably sources its coffee from farmers throughout the world which our team regularly visit. Our coffee is locally roasted at our own Roastery located at Bethnal Green in East London, freshly ground, expertly extracted by our highly trained baristas and perfectly poured. Our famous Urban Espresso, used in all our cafes, is a Brazilian Single Origin which has been hand selected by our co-founder Huw and has notes of chocolate honey vanilla and dulce de leche!” Through franchising, Urban Baristas aims to deliver to a larger platform that will make their speciality product available to people throughout the UK – and get everyone drinking great coffee!
